What this site is
SaoTomePrincipe.com is a travel guide for visitors to São Tomé and Príncipe. It is published by an independent team of travel writers; it is not an official website of the government or of any tourism authority.
Our aim is to make a trip here easy to plan: where to go, how to get between places, when the seasons change and what is worth booking ahead.
How we work
Guides are compiled from published sources and checked against current listings where possible. Flight routes, entry rules, prices and opening times in São Tomé and Príncipe change often and are not always announced, so we hedge figures and encourage you to confirm anything critical before travelling.
We write about the plantation era plainly. The roças are beautiful, and they were built by enslaved and forced labour; both things are part of the story.
Tours and hotels are listed only if we found them live on GetYourGuide or Trip.com. Where there is little to book, we say so.
