Tours & tickets in São Tomé and Príncipe

A short, honest list: every genuine tour we found on GetYourGuide, ranked and grouped by destination.

São Tomé and Príncipe is one of the least-visited countries in the world, and online booking has barely arrived. When we checked GetYourGuide’s catalogue we found seven genuine products, all starting on São Tomé island: guided day tours, a boat trip to the Equator islet, scuba diving, a dinner with live music and two multi-day packages.

There are no ticketed attractions to pre-book here — museums and plantations are paid in cash at the door — so a guided day with a driver is the most useful thing to reserve in advance. It solves transport, language and navigation in one go.

For Príncipe, GetYourGuide currently lists no stand-alone excursions; boat trips and hikes there are arranged through your lodge or local guides. We say so on each destination page rather than fill the gap with unrelated products.

SaoTomePrincipe.com is an affiliate partner of GetYourGuide: if you book through our links we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Prices shown are indicative starting prices in euros — the booking page shows live prices in your own currency.

Tours by destination

Which of these products cover which part of the islands.

A note on coverage: most tours appear under several destinations because the same guided day or private tour can be pointed at different parts of São Tomé island. Príncipe pages show only the one multi-day package whose listing mentions both islands. Always read the itinerary on the booking page before you reserve.

Frequently asked questions

Why are there so few tours?

Tourism is small-scale and most guiding is still arranged by phone, WhatsApp or through hotels. The online catalogue is growing slowly; we list only what is genuinely bookable.

Should I book a guide or hire a car?

Both work. A guided day costs more but includes a driver who knows the roads, the plantation history and where to eat. Self-drive suits confident drivers who are happy with potholes and few road signs.

Can I book Príncipe excursions online?

Not through GetYourGuide at the time of writing. Lodges on Príncipe organise boat trips, guided hikes and plantation visits for their guests, and independent guides can be found in Santo António.

What currency are prices in?

We show indicative “from” prices in euros, to which the local dobra is pegged. GetYourGuide displays the live price in your own currency.

Are tours run in English?

Guides generally speak Portuguese and often English or French. The language options are shown on each booking page — check them before you reserve.
