From São Tomé city
Follow the inland road to Trindade and on up through Monte Café; Bom Sucesso is at the end of the paved road, about 25 km from the capital. Allow 50–60 minutes — the upper section is narrow and often in cloud.

Trek logistics
For the Pico de São Tomé trek your guide will arrange transport to the start and, if you descend on the north-west side, a pickup near Neves. Fix the meeting point and time before you set off: there is little or no phone signal on the mountain.
Getting around
Everything beyond Bom Sucesso is on foot. Trails are narrow, steep in places and unsigned.
Start walking by mid-morning at the latest. Cloud and rain usually close in during the afternoon.
