The summit trek
The climb of Pico de São Tomé is not sold online. It is arranged through local trekking guides, hotels or the park’s guide association, who provide a guide and usually porters and camping equipment. Agree clearly what is included — food, tent, transport to and from the trailheads — and the price, in advance.
For birdwatching, ask specifically for a specialist bird guide. Finding the forest endemics takes local knowledge and an early start.
