From São Tomé to Príncipe
Flights from São Tomé International Airport to Príncipe take about 35 minutes. They have been operated by STP Airways and Africa’s Connection using small turboprop aircraft with limited seats.
- Book early — as soon as your international flights are fixed, directly with the airline, through an agent or via your lodge.
- Baggage allowances are lower than on international flights; check the limit and pack light or leave a bag at your São Tomé hotel.
- Schedules vary by season and are not necessarily daily; flights can be retimed or cancelled for weather or technical reasons.
- Leave a buffer of a day between returning from Príncipe and flying home.
From Príncipe airport to town
The airport is in the north of the island, a few kilometres from Santo António — about 10–15 minutes by car. Lodges meet their guests; guesthouses can send a driver, and taxis usually wait for arriving flights.
By sea
Cargo boats sail between the islands and take passengers, but the crossing is long and rough and is not recommended.
Getting around
Within town everything is on foot. Beyond it, hire a car with a driver or a motorbike taxi; most roads outside the centre are dirt and times depend on recent rain.
