Getting to Príncipe
Fly from São Tomé in about 35 minutes — see getting to Príncipe.
To Baía das Agulhas
The bay lies on the roadless south-west coast and can only be visited by boat. Trips leave from Santo António or from the lodge beaches in the north and take roughly an hour or more each way, depending on the boat and the sea.
| Departure | Typical trip | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Santo António | Half or full day | Arranged with local boatmen or guides |
| Northern lodges | Full day with stops | Organised for guests; may be open to others on request |
To the hiking trails
- Pico Papagaio: the trail starts a short drive south of Santo António.
- Southern forest and Pico do Príncipe: long, serious treks starting from the end of the road in the south; guide essential.
- Praia Grande: by road and on foot on the east coast.
Sea conditions
The exposed south and west can be rough, particularly in the windier months of the gravana. Operators cancel when it is unsafe; do not press them to go.
